Vision from the Summit of Hermon

For the writer of the biblical Song of Songs, the summit of Hermon was the high and holy place where the King bridegroom would finally see his beloved bride-to-be as fully prepared for their wedding day, without spot or imperfection. The King called out to his beloved to keep moving up higher, from glory to glory, from the top of Amana, to the top of Senir, to the summit of Hermon. But after reaching the summit of the highest of the three peaks, the call of the groom was still, "Come away with me". The meaning of this special calling appears to be that the Lord's beloved would be involved in climbing a series of mountain peaks, before being caught away in the Spirit to enjoy a victorious heavenly walk with her Lord during which the marriage would finally be consummated.

Hermon is a mountain with three peaks whose name means "sacred". It is located where three Biblical lands of Lebanon, Israel, and Syria meet. When viewed from the west it appears as a throne or couch with the highest of the three peaks, Mount Hermon on the left, or north side of the entire mountain. It resembles and typifies the heavenly Mount Sion, or New Jerusalem, which has been seen as a city built of three neighborhoods suspended one above the other (see "Visions Beyond the Veil" by H. A. Baker). Peter, James, and John were called up to a very high mountain to see the glory of the Lord Jesus revealed. Since Caesaria Philippi, where they received this call, is at the base of the sacred mount Hermon, we may suppose the glory of the Lord was revealed to these men while praying there. These three typify the end-time bride of Christ, a people who are called out from among men to a higher walk of worship and adoration of their Lord. They answer the call because of an all-consuming love for Jesus.

Thus, the summit of Hermon represents that sacred condition of the heart you may experience, and in which you may receive a vision of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. It is the state of being holy as He is holy. It is a place where the bride of Christ is brought into her state of perfect readiness for the upward call of God in Christ. It is the place where those who love Him with all their hearts may bow and worship Him who alone is worthy, become like Him, and be prepared for His second coming. To climb this sacred mountain and reach it's summit is to see Jesus, to be transformed into His likeness, and to be carried away with Him as He prepares a bride-to-be for His soon return. May your heart be captured by His love during your stay at the summit of Hermon!
